Funded account

Also called: Performance account (PA), Express funded account (XFA), Sim funded, Live funded

In short. A funded account is the account a prop firm opens after a passed evaluation (or sells directly as instant funding). The trader trades under the firm's drawdown and payout rules and keeps the split of the profits. Most funded accounts start simulated; the firm copies the trader to a live account when it chooses to.

Firms use their own names: PA (performance account), XFA (express funded account), sim-funded, live. The differences that matter are the activation fee, the drawdown type once funded (often end of day where the evaluation was intraday), the minimum days before a first payout, and whether a consistency rule applies to payouts.

The balance shown is not yours: what you can withdraw is the profit above the starting balance, after any buffer the firm requires, within its payout schedule and cap. Read the payout page of the firm before the first trade, not after the first good week.

Most firms close a funded account on the first breach, with no reset. The margin between your real daily loss and the account's limit is the only insurance you have.
